This can either couple two male DB9 Serial cables together, or change the end of a DB9 Male Serial Cable into a Female.

This is known as a "port saver" as it is a male/female adapter. It does not change the gender. It is usually used on a port that you don't want to wear out. By putting this port saver on the DB9 port, it can wear out, instead of the original port.

This can either couple two 9 Pin Female cables together, or change a female cable into a male cable.
